The short version: the first reply is free and comes with no strings. Paid sessions are priced and agreed in writing first.

Who I am
This service is run by Legal Counsel, trading as Legal Advice for Half the Price, West Sussex (hello@legal-advice.co). I was called to the Bar of England and Wales and have since been disbarred. I am not a practising barrister or solicitor and I'm not regulated by any legal regulator.
What you get
I provide general legal information about the law of England and Wales, based on what you tell me. It is not regulated legal advice and it doesn't make me your lawyer. I don't represent anyone in court, conduct litigation, carry out other reserved legal activities, or advise on immigration or criminal matters.
My replies depend on the information you give me. If something is missing or wrong, my view may be different. Deadlines are your responsibility: if a date is coming up, tell me, and don't wait for my reply before acting.
The free reply
One written reply by email about one problem. There's no charge and no obligation. I may decline to answer a question, for example if it's outside the areas I cover, and I'll tell you if so.
Paid sessions
- A session is one hour by phone, video, or in person in Sussex, at the price we agree in writing before you pay.
- Before you pay, I'll confirm by email the date, time, price and what the session covers.
- Payment is due before the session.
- You can rearrange free of charge with at least 24 hours' notice.
Your right to cancel
As a consumer you can cancel within 14 days of booking and get a full refund. If you ask for a session to take place within those 14 days, you agree that once the session has been delivered you lose the right to cancel it. If you cancel after I've started preparing, I may keep a fair amount for the work already done.
Care and responsibility
I'll provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or excludes liability that can't legally be excluded. I'm not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses if you use the service for business purposes.
Complaints
If you're unhappy, email hello@legal-advice.co and I'll reply within 14 days. Because I'm not a regulated lawyer, the Legal Ombudsman can't deal with complaints about this service.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Wales, the Welsh courts can also deal with any dispute.
